The course provides an interdisciplinary perspective on landscape studies. By integrating different fields' understanding of the landscape concept, the course offers a complex understanding of the historical and contemporary connections between landscape, human activity and sustainability. By integrating landscape studies and sustainability science the course problematizes the landscape concept. For example, the courseexamines different processes of landscape development, issues of path dependence in local and regional development, and landscapes role in social justice and sustainability. The course problematizes constraints and possibilities for desirable landscapes trajectories.
