Life after LUMES
On May 18, 2016, we had our first career inspiration evening here at LUMES. Colin Hale and Ina Dodd from batch 15, Helena W. Lindberg from batch 13 and Lukas von Schuckmann from batch 17 visited us and shared their “Life after LUMES” stories and tips on getting employment after graduation. Judging by the feedback we got the evening was a success and we’re hoping to make “Life after LUMES” an annual event. We asked the participants for feedback and two reccuring themes were: 1) Make use of the interdisciplinary nature of LUMES, but build a niche for yourself, and 2) make the most out time in Lund and building experiences outside of academia by putting your LUMES skills to work in the local community!
Colin, Helena, Ina and Lukas, 2016.
LUMES alumni, you are important to us and we love to hear about your adventures after LUMES
If you have a story that you would like to share with the LUMES community through our Facebook and website please send us an email at info [at] lucsus [dot] lu [dot] se.
Sometimes we have the pleasure of having LUMES alumni visiting us. Some examples of recent visits below:
Zoe Volioti, from batch 12, visited us from Brussels in September 2016, to give a presentation on what she has done after LUMES and is currently working with (as a business developer at Sustainability Consult, a leading bioeconomy communications consultancy). We also had a lively and thought provocing discussion on the shift from a fossil-based to a bio-based economy.
Rhianna Dean, from batch 14, visited us from Australia in September 2016 and gave us a presentation on 'Environmental enterprises in the social economy - how hybrid business models are creating environmental and community benefits'.
Takehiro Kawahara, also batch 14, visited us from Tokyo in 2014 to give a presentation connecting his experience as a LUMES student with his current assignment at Bloomberg New Energy Finance's Tokyo office.
If you are in the region, we would love to invite you to share your current endeavours with LUMES students and LUCSUS faculty!
